weekend | near and dear

Hi there, how was your weekend? I heard it was amazing in Portland and it’s been hot in Tennessee. It’s ok though, I need the heat. Tennessee holds a very special place in my heart. I don’t go home often, but when I do, it’s a damn good time and never long enough. I met up with childhood friends, high school friends, college friends and family. We beat the heat on the river one day, it’s really the only way to make it through a hot Southern summer.

My best friend from jr. high and high school married a guy I have known since kindergarten. I took a dozen photos of their cute family smiling and looking at me but this, is hands down my favorite. It shows their personalities so well.

One of my closest girlfriends from college drove from Nashville to spend the night. It was a fun slumber party and Ash couldn’t pass up a day on the water.

My baby cousin Sarah Beth got married over the weekend too.

Did you know I have a baby brother that’s not so baby any more.

This is contender for all time favorite photo of my mom.

My dad doesn’t like weddings. He even proclaimed, he was never going to another wedding just before we left for the wedding. He’s not having a good time, can’t you tell.

My sidekick.

The house where the wedding reception was held. And the cake through the window. That was some good wedding cake, and I’m not normally a wedding cake fan.

This is my grandmother on my dad’s side. She turned 90 last December. On Sunday, we went for a walk, her second walk of the day, and sat on the front porch until we couldn’t stand the heat any longer. The bedroom photo is her new-old house. A month or so back when the tornado’s hit Alabama and Tennessee her home of over 50 years was partially destroyed. She happened to be in the house at the time of the tornado and came out completely unscathed. I wish I could say the same for the rest of her house. The women in my family are tough cookies, I tell you.
