</a>I like purple. There, I said it. I don&#8217;t care if it was <em>so</em> 2008 either. It&#8217;s 2010 and I like purple friends. It hasn&#8217;t been since jr. high that I&#8217;ve even considered the color. Even then it was off limits because it was my best friend, Wendy&#8217;s color. Mine was green, in case you were wondering. We were quite the pair and complimented one another in more than just colors. But purple, it keeps catching my eye on clothing and in interiors. From the muted to the vibrant, I like it all but I stray away from anything too pastel or bright.</p>
<p><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/purple_elle-decor.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-4885" title="purple elle decor interior" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/purple_elle-decor-550x700.jpg" alt="james huniford beach house" width="550" height="700" /></a>I like it used sparingly and paired with white and camel.</p>
<p><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Picture-1.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4877" title="purple room" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Picture-1-e1279684325163.png" alt="the selby" width="550" height="754" /></a>It&#8217;s also nice paired with a deeper version of itself and an <a href="http://www.hermes.com/index_us.html" target="_blank">Hermes</a> box or 10.</p>
<p><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/john-pawson-purple2.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-4878" title="john pawson via elle decor" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/john-pawson-purple2-550x436.jpg" alt="purple yacht" width="550" height="436" /></a></p>
<p>Again, a tiny amount paired with white, green and a natural wood. The photo above and the one below are of a yacht designed by <a href="http://www.johnpawson.com/" target="_blank">John Pawson</a>. Even the <a href="http://www.superyachttimes.com/editorial/3/print/article/2996" target="_blank">sail</a> is the most regal shade of purple. If you have a second, you really should click on the underlined word sail and see images of this thing. I was speechless.</p>
<p><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG_NEW.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-4879" title="john pawson via elle decor" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG_NEW-550x400.jpg" alt="purple yacht" width="550" height="400" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Picture-2.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4886" title="purple interior" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Picture-2-e1279766030589.png" alt="remodelista " width="549" height="735" /></a>Purple is also great with gray.</p>
<p><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Picture-3.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4887" title="purple furniture" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Picture-3-e1279766237948.png" alt="remodelista" width="547" height="762" /></a>Or on a big piece of furniture, if you&#8217;re the adventurous type.</p>

<p>The house went on the market last week. We had a few showings over the weekend and a photographer stopped by to get photos of the house for the MLS posting. To spruce things up, I stopped by the <a href="http://www.theperfectpetal.com/flower_shop.html" target="_blank">Perfect Petal</a> to pick up some flowers. I&#8217;m loving how they look against my newly gray wall. It used to be the brightest of greens. So bright, our realtor recommend we paint it something more neutral. I think it&#8217;s my new favorite color.</p>
<p>Aside from house selling flowers, I heard baking cookies before a showing helps. Any other ideas?</p>

<p>It&#8217;s very possible I own the worlds smallest powder room/laundry room combo. I haven&#8217;t confirmed, but like I said, pretty sure. You can sit on the toilet and do laundry at the same time. Not that I have, but how&#8217;s that for efficiency? I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ve also heard, if you paint a room darker, it&#8217;s going to feel smaller. I know what you are thinking. <em>World&#8217;s smallest powder room/laundry combo is now going to feel even smaller? </em>The great thing about design is there are instances when rules are meant to be broken. Had I painted this room white, it would have been about as uninteresting as the fix and flip just down the street. And I <em>love</em> a white bath. But this bath has zero architectural interest to make white look right. So I decided to go with the opposite. Almost black, think the color of a chalkboard. And in all honesty, it doesn&#8217;t feel any smaller. It feels warmer, my skin tone looks better and bright light in a powder room is not always ideal, especially in the evening.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m off to opening day festivities this afternoon. Have yourself a lovely weekend! Toodles.</p>

<p>Spring is slowly creeping back into my world. We are a little behind the rest of the country, with a few inches of snow yesterday and probably a few more to come. The change of seasons always brings a transformation of colors. Grays, browns and blacks are slowly being replaced with greens, yellows and lilacs. From my wardrobe to the projects I work on to the food I eat, I&#8217;m gradually seeing a transition. It&#8217;s nature&#8217;s wonderful way of easing us back into color.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring2.jpg"></a><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring2.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-3869" title="early spring2" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring2-550x550.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="550" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring41.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-3871" title="early spring4" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring41-550x550.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="550" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring3.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-3870" title="early spring3" src="http://thekidcollective.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/early-spring3-550x550.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="550" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This palette feels like Spring. The cool mornings with a light frost still on the ground and the warmer afternoons where a jacket is still required. It&#8217;s the time just before plants begin to flower and the days become longer. I love the change of seasons.</p>
