Untitled-3

I have been diligently cleaning my office the past few days. Organizing, filing and getting things in order for the work to come. Better yet, in anticipation of the work to come. I came across a manila envelop my granny sent me over a year ago that I filed away. Inside were photos of my family. Tons of my brother and me from when we were young. Including our class photo from each year of school. You know, the ones with the blue backdrop? Every so often the people in charge of backdrops would mix it up and add something a little flashier like a blue backdrop with lasers. Aside from the laser light backdrop and my perm, the photos that stood out the most were those of my grand parents and my dad.

The year was 1947, a few years after my grandfather returned from WWII. My mom wasn’t even born. And there stands my handsome grandfather hanging sheets to dry. My granny is on the right with my uncle. In the garden pail is my dad. I’m not sure why he’s in a garden pail, maybe it has to do with his nickname, the chicken coop kid. Regardless, I’m so happy I have these. Now I know why we save photos. It’s not for ourselves. It’s for our generations to come.

PS. I love those trousers my GP is sporting. And that dress. It’s pretty great too.

Here’s a nice way to make sure your rings are always in the right place. I am more than guilty of misplacing mine. Also, check out the eco friendly line of bath accessories made from biodegradable PHPV right here and here. Promised not to break the bank.

lindsey thornburg and her cloak of many colors

It’s completely coincidence that I came across Lindsey Thornburg last night. I was searching for photos of Karen O. from this past weekend’s Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’s Red Rocks show. By the way, where are these photos? KO had on this incredible cloak that’s not too different from the one above. Anyway, I searched my way to the fader and found Lindsey and her magical cloaks. She’s an Aspen native so she knows what these Colorado winters can be like. Warmth and style have never had such a combo. My fave is the Pendleton mini in turquoise and black.

It’s going to be almost 80 here today. After all the rain and cool weather over the weekend this warmth is making me think of the beach. I’m loving the work of photographer Yosigo. One last trip to the beach before the fall? Anyone? No?

As the title somewhat indicates, I’m heading to Monolith for what looks to be a rainy Saturday and hopefully a less-rainy-Sunday worth of outdoor music at Red Rocks. Not ideal, but I’ll pack my rain jacket and hope for the best. Rain or shine, I’m excited to catch the The Antler’s. They are one of the first acts to kick off the weekend fest. Enjoy.
